JDataConnect System Requirements |
|
|
|
Java Applications, EJB, Servlets and JSPs JDataConnect client side drivers operate in any Java Virtual Machine (JVM) that supports JDK 1.3, 1.2.x or 1.1.x or higher.
Applications written using the package JData1_2 require any Java Virtual Machine (JVM) that supports JDK 1.1.x or higher. Applications written using the package JData2_0 require any Java Virtual Machine (JVM) that supports JDK 1.2.x or higher.
Java Applets Applets written using the package JDataLite require any browser that supports JDK 1.0.2 or higher. E.G Netscape 6/4/3.x, MS Internet Explorer 5/4/3.x or HotJava. Applications written using the package JData1_2 require any browser that supports JDK 1.1.x and JDBC 1.2 E.G Netscape 4.x, MS Internet Explorer 4.x or HotJava.
If you use JData2_0 for applets the browser will probably need to be installed with the Java Plug In to so that your applet runs in a Java 1.2 environment.
Note that package JDataLite does not require that the JVM supports Sun's package java.sql. In addition JDataLite allows applications to use some powerful JDBC 2.0 features in run time environments that do not support Java 1.2.
System Requirements for Intranet and Web Servers
JDataServer database server requires Microsoft Windows 2000, NT Server or Workstation 4.0, Windows 98 or Windows 95. An ODBC driver for the database you will connect to is required. You run run JDataConnect servlets and beans on other web server platforms (Solaris, Linux ..) so long as JDataServer runs on an NT server. See deployment architectures for more details.
We advise obtaining the latest ODBC driver for your database to obtain the most reliable performance.
JDataServer requires the Winsock 2.0 SDK. For NT ensure that you install Service Pack 3.0. For Windows 95 install the free SDK from:http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q182/1/08.asp.
Windows 98 ships with Winsock SDK 2.0
When running on Windows 98 or 95 JDataServer cannot run as an NT service since those operating systems do not support user installed services.
