The new S ecret Server 7.8 features Custom Launchers for PowerShell, SQL Management Studio, and Sybase iSQL. Custom launchers allow users to open applications with credentials from Secret Server. For example a user can run PowerShell as an administrator, open SQL management Studio as a user or any application that can be configured. Some possible applications that could be configured for a custom launcher include: Remote Access tools, FTP applications, VPN clients, or almost any application that uses privileged credentials on startup.
Other new features include:
- Java API for use in embedded scripts without hardcoding passwords
- Password Changing support for MySQL, DSEE, and OpenLDAP
- XML Export option to simplify restoring or migrating from an export
